Digital Creator is not so much a feature of Facebook that you can turn on and off. Rather, it refers to the mode that your Facebook account is set to – with Digital Creator another way of describing a professional account that’s used to not just share posts but to create content and track engagement.
While professional accounts have long been used by businesses who want to share content with their customers and track conversion as well as interaction and other engagement stats, more and more individual users are accessing digital creator tools for profile and audience growth.
But what do you do when you want to restore your account to standard use and remove all the extra insights and tools available to digital creators?
Why Turn off Digital Creator Mode?
It’s important to note that Digital Creator mode on Facebook is the same as professional mode – and concerns the type of profile you manage as well as the amount of control you have over visibility, engagement stats, and more.
Those who have a professional profile or Digital Creator mode activated will benefit from extra tools and monetisation features. However, if you don’t need or use these tools and features, you might find that the increased visibility of your Digital Creator profile invades your privacy. For example, being in professional mode means that other users can see specific elements of your profile even if you opt to keep most personal information hidden. Being in professional mode also opens your profile up to being tagged by other users and makes it easier for users to view and follow your profile even if they aren’t your friend.
Which is why more and more users are opting for personal profiles with added business pages as opposed to Creator accounts. It gives them the privacy of a personal account, but with a business page that they can use for online growth.
3 Steps to Turn off Digital Creator Mode
- Click the menu button in the bottom right hand corner of your screen and navigate to your profile page
- Select the button with the three dots, next to the ‘Edit Profile’ button
- If you are already in professional or Digital Creator’ mode, select ‘Turn Off Professional Mode’ from the settings list
Once you’ve switched professional mode off, your profile will lose its monetisation tools, and you will lose visibility of the audience stats and insights.
There are pros and cons to have a professional account with Digital Creator mode activated. While it is good for establishing and growing your presence online, it’s not a great option if you want to keep your personal information private.
We hope this helps!
