Have you ever wondered what your Facebook profile looks like from the perspective of another user – namely one who isn’t friends with you on the platform but clicks through to view your profile anyway?

The benefit of the ‘View Profile As…’ tool is that users can check which personal details are visible on a Public level – and which sections of their profile are locked and visible to friends only.

Here is a quick guide to viewing your profile from a public perspective, so that you can ensure that your personal information is safely hidden from people who you don’t know.

3 Steps to View Your Profile as a Public User

  1. Navigate to your profile by clicking on the menu button in the bottom right hand corner of the home screen and selecting your name at the top of the menu
  2. Click on the three dots button underneath your profile and cover photos, next to the button to ‘Edit Profile’
  3. From the menu, select ‘View As’ which is sat next to the eye icon

Your profile view will automatically change, letting you see how your profile appears to a public user – notably someone who is not connected as your friend on Facebook. From within this public perspective, you can directly ‘Edit Profile’ to adjust what public users can see.

This is a great way to check in on how much personal information you are giving to public users, adjusting your settings accordingly to ensure that you feel safe and secure when using Facebook.

We hope this helps!
