Have you ever noticed how the URL of your Facebook profile is based on your username?
While knowing your URL doesn’t necessarily feel that important when you’re browsing and engaging with other users on your Facebook app, it does become the URL under which your profile is shared with others and recognised across the platform.
So, when details and preferences change, it makes perfect sense that you would want to change that corresponding URL as well.
Luckily, doing so can be done within minutes in the Facebook app. Here’s how…
5 Steps to Change Your Facebook URL
- Click on the menu button in the bottom right hand corner of your app screen
- Select ‘Settings and Privacy’ then ‘Settings’
- Click on the Accounts Centre at the top of the Settings menu
- Select ‘Profiles’ then click on your Facebook profile (the one that you want to edit)
- Select ‘Username’
This is where you will see the username under which your Facebook profile is stored. This username is identical to the URL that connects to your profile – meaning that when you change this username your URL changes too.
It’s of course important to note here that your URL needs to be unique and different from any other profile. So, finding something that you like and that is available can be difficult and can take some time.
Experiment with different variations of your name and other traits that you want in your username, until you find something unique. Then, once you click ‘Done’ both your username and URL will change.
It’s as simple as that!
