If you have ever experimented with paid ads on Facebook, then you will have managed these through the Meta Ads Manager.

This is a backend tool that allows you to create campaigns and channel funds into them, to expand their reach and exhibit the intended action from the right audience.

If, however, an ad account has lay dormant for a period of time or you are planning to cease use of an account, then the advice is to close it – mainly to remove the risk of your account being compromised and accessed by hackers or con artists.

Without further ado, here’s how to delete a Facebook Ads account and ensure that your account isn’t exposed to the risk of hackers.

5 Steps to Remove an Ad Account

  1. Make sure that you have full control over the ads account before attempting to close the account. It’s also important to note that you must complete this process from a computer device, not a smartphone or via the app
  2. Head into the Ads Manager Settings on your page or Meta Ads Manager account
  3. Select ‘Deactivate Ad Account’
  4. Confirm the action and provide a reason why you are removing your ads account, when prompted to do so
  5. Click ‘Deactivate Ad Account’ one final time

Any outstanding balance relating to recent or even current ads will be charged to the credit card that you previously connected to your Ads Manager account. Once this has been done, Facebook and the Meta Ads Manager will remove all trace of your credit card from the account – something that you should check in on after two working days.

We hope this helps!
