Wondering how to delete your Facebook account for good?

When it comes to managing the time you spend on Facebook, there are several paths that users can follow.

The most popular is account deactivation, which enables an account to be frozen and hidden from view until the user chooses to reactivate it and become a regular user again.

Another option is to delete the Facebook app, limiting your access to Facebook on the go from a portable device or iPhone.

Or you can delete your account completely, putting an end to your time on Facebook.

In this article, we’re sharing the process of deleting your account permanently, using an iPhone device.

5 Steps to Delete Your Facebook Account on an iPhone Device

  1. Click on the menu button in the bottom right hand corner of your iPhone Facebook app
  2. Select ‘Settings and Privacy’ then ‘Settings’
  3. Click on the ‘See More in Accounts Centre’ box at the top of the Settings menu
  4. Click on ‘Personal Details’ then ‘Account Ownership and Control’
  5. Select ‘Deactivation or Deletion’ then select the account you want to delete

Facebook will give you a comprehensive breakdown of both options, identifying the differences between deleting your account and simply deactivating it. If you are sure that you want to delete it, then tick the ‘Delete Account’ box and follow the confirmation process.

You will have 30 days to reverse your decision, after which your account will be permanently deleted.

A Few Things to Note…

Before we leave you to weigh up the merits of deleting your account vs. temporarily deactivating it, there are a few things you need to note.

  • The first is that a deleted account cannot be reactivated – and deleting your account also means losing access to Facebook Messenger as well as all the posts and content that you have shared on the platform.
  • While deleting your account can be reversed up to 30 days after confirming deletion, once those 30 days are up you cannot reinstate your account or profile.
  • If you delete your Facebook account, then you will no longer be able to use Facebook login to access other apps and platforms like Spotify.

If you’ve made it this far and still think that deleting your account is the right solution for you, then follow the five steps listed above to confirm your decision.
