If you are located in an area that allows for Messenger payment, then this article is for you. But if you’re in a location that doesn’t enable Messenger payments, don’t go anywhere – because we’ve got some information that you might be interested too!
Can You Cancel Messenger Payments?
This is one of Facebook’s frequently asked questions – and the simple answer is no.
Messenger payments are instant, and so it is not possible to cancel or reverse a payment that you have made.
Of course, it’s not just Messenger payments that Facebook users often ask about. Alongside direct payments that can be made instantly via the Messenger app, users who run business or creator accounts may also use their Facebook to make and manage ad payments.
Can You Cancel Ad Payments?
It is possible to cancel a pending ad payment – though you need to be aware that if you do this, you will impact your Facebook advertising strategy.
To cancel an ad payment, follow these steps…
- Navigate to your Facebook Ads Manager menu
- Select ‘Billings’ then find the transaction that you want to cancel (NOTE: You can only cancel transactions that haven’t been processed yet)
- Select ‘Cancel’ then confirm the cancellation
Once an ad has been cancelled and the payment removed, your ads will stop running as soon as the current billing cycle is over. As a result, you may find that your ads do not appear instantly and remain active for a period of time. This is because they are still running on the previous payment.
Once the new billing cycle starts, if you have successfully cancelled the payment then your ad will cease running.
We hope this helps. While Facebook makes it incredibly easy to manage both payments and private transactions, navigating the cancellation process can feel like a bit of a minefield. But once you get the hang of it, making and cancelling payments is fairly straightforward.
