If you browse Facebook on an iPhone but are tired of constantly being told when another user or creator is going live, then you’ve come to the right article.
Facebook Live notifications are great for those occasions when you want to engage in some live interaction, or when you want to be kept informed about a specific creator’s live stream. But more often than not, and when combined with all the other notifications you receive on your device, knowing whenever someone is going live is simply quite annoying.
Here’s how to stop these notifications – specifically for iPhone users.
5 Steps to Turn off Facebook Live Notifications
- Click on the menu button in the bottom right hand corner of the screen on your iPhone
- Select the cog icon in the top right of the screen or select ‘Settings and Privacy’ then ‘Settings’ from the menu. Both will take you through to your Facebook Settings
- Scroll down until you see ‘Notifications’ then click
- Select ‘Video’ from the Notifications menu
- You will see a few options relating to notifications that you can adjust for Live stream content. Change these according to your preferences – using the information below to help guide your choice
Understanding the Different Notification Settings
The first option on the Video Notification menu is to ‘Allow Notifications on Facebook’. This essentially means that if you happen to be browsing Facebook when a Live stream starts, you will e notified about it – however, the notification will not appear on your device if you are not already active on the social media platform.
All the options underneath are considered ‘Push Notifications’ – that is, they pop up on your device as a Facebook announcement notice and are sent through via email or SMS message.
All of these options need to be toggled on or off depending on your preference. Typically, the Facebook notification is the least invasive, with push notifications interrupting time spent on other apps and performing other tasks on your device.
We hope this helps and makes the process of adjusting and tailoring your notifications a little bit easier to manage.
